‘Care Companion Program’ Training Provided to Health Workers for Enhanced Patient Care…

Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): Under the directives of Dr. Parvjit Singh Gulati, Civil Surgeon of Faridkot, and the leadership of Dr. Mandeep Kaur, District Family Welfare Officer, a special refresher training session on the ‘Care Companion Program’ was organized at the Civil Surgeon’s office. The primary objective of this program is to enhance the quality of healthcare services by training the relatives (attendants) of patients.
Key Highlights of the Training:
Participants: Nursing staff and other health workers from the District Hospital, Faridkot, and the Sub-Divisional Hospital, Kotkapura, participated in this training session.
Expert Trainers: Dr. Viraj, a specialized trainer from Maharashtra, and Ashwin Sharma, the Care Companion Coordinator, shed light in detail on various aspects of the program.
Main Objective: To train patients’ relatives regarding home-based care following hospital discharge, maternal and neonatal safety, hygiene, nutrition, and the correct usage of medications.

District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Mandeep Kaur stated that this program represents a revolutionary step towards improving healthcare services. She emphasized that when patients’ family members are equipped with the right information and skills, it not only accelerates the patient’s recovery but also leads to improved treatment outcomes.
Discussion and Solutions:
During the training, practical difficulties encountered at the grassroots level were also discussed. Health workers were updated with new information to enable them to better guide the attendants visiting the hospital. At the conclusion of the program, awareness materials and certificates were distributed to all participants.

Present on this occasion were District Epidemiologist Dr. Himanshu Gupta, Deputy Mass Media Officer Sudhir Dheer, Dr. Prabhdeep Singh Chawla, Senior Pharmacy Officer Sunil Singla, Rajvir Kaur, and other staff members.
