Faridkot, May 18 (Alexander D’Souza): The Election Commission of India, New Delhi, has released the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision of the voter list in the state of Punjab. To ensure strict compliance with the directives issued by the Commission, the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Faridkot—Mr. Rahul Kumar Chaba (IAS)—held a special meeting with representatives from all recognized political parties in the district.
Here is the complete schedule for the Special Intensive Revision:
During the meeting, the District Election Officer briefed all political leaders in detail regarding the Election Commission’s entire process and shared the schedule of key dates: – June 25 to July 24, 2026: BLOs (Booth Level Officers) will conduct door-to-door visits to fill out enumeration forms. During this period, the process of rationalization of polling stations will also be completed.
July 31, 2026: A draft of the voter roll will be published based on the forms collected during the door-to-door enumeration.
Up to August 31, 2026: Claims and objections regarding this draft list will be invited from the general public and political parties.
July 31 to September 28, 2026: All claims and objections received within this timeframe will be thoroughly disposed of.
October 1, 2026: The final publication of the updated voter roll—prepared based on all necessary modifications, additions, deletions, and corrections—will take place.
“No eligible voter will be left out”: Mr. Rahul Kumar Chaba, District Election Officer. Emphasizing the point during the meeting, Mr. Rahul Kumar Chaba stated that the participation of all political parties is crucial to ensure that this essential process is executed with complete transparency. He appealed to all parties to appoint their respective Booth Level Agents (BLAs) as soon as possible so that they may extend their full cooperation to the BLOs. He categorically stated that, in accordance with the directives of the Election Commission, no eligible citizen should be deprived of their right to vote, nor should the name of any ineligible individual be included in the voter list.
