Major Action by Faridkot Police: ₹26.24 Lakh Deposited into Government Treasury Through Auction of 161 Vehicles
Police Stations Freed from Clutter of Scrapped Vehicles; Vacated Space to Now Be Put to Productive Use: SSP Dr. Pragya Jain

Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): Under the leadership of District Police Chief Dr. Pragya Jain, the Faridkot Police has taken a significant step toward enhancing transparency in administrative operations and improving the infrastructure of police stations. During an open auction held at the Faridkot Police Lines, 161 unclaimed vehicles and those linked to various legal cases were auctioned off, generating a revenue of ₹26.24 lakh for the government treasury.
Bidding Conducted with Complete Transparency:
SSP Dr. Pragya Jain (IPS) stated that these vehicles had been seized under the NDPS Act and other criminal statutes across various police stations in the district (Sadar Kotkapura, Bajakhana, and City Faridkot). Many of these vehicles had been recovered in an unclaimed or abandoned state. The SSP clarified that the entire auction process was conducted under the supervision of the ‘Vehicle Disposal Committee’ and in strict compliance with all legal formalities.
‘Disposal’ of 124 Two-Wheelers and 37 Four-Wheelers
Providing details regarding the auction, DSP (Local) Mr. Naveen Kumar stated the following:
A total of 161 vehicles were auctioned.
These included 124 two-wheelers and 37 four-wheelers.
These were vehicles regarding which court verdicts had already been delivered, yet no one had come forward to claim them for a long period.
Having deteriorated into scrap due to prolonged exposure to the elements (sun and rain), these vehicles were sold without accompanying documentation.
A total of 54 buyers participated enthusiastically in this auction. Emphasis on Improving the Appearance of Police Stations and Space Management:
Dr. Pragya Jain stated that these old vehicles had occupied a significant amount of space within police stations and the Police Lines, thereby hindering administrative operations.
“Now that this space has been cleared, it can be utilized more effectively for policing duties and public welfare activities. We have also initiated the process of compiling a list of the remaining vehicles, and they, too, will be disposed of in a similar manner shortly,” said Dr. Pragya Jain, SSP Faridkot.
