Faridkot: Political tensions have escalated in Punjab over allegations of a paper leak and cheating during the Pharmacy Officer recruitment examination. Launching an offensive against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) submitted a memorandum to Faridkot Deputy Commissioner Rahul Chaba. Led by BJP District President Gaurav Kakkar, the party leaders demanded the immediate resignation of the state’s Health Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, and Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains.
Question Paper Scanned from Exam Center; Answers Sent via Bluetooth
Speaking to the media, BJP District President Gaurav Kakkar stated that approximately 7,000 candidates appeared for the examination held on July 19 for 454 Pharmacy Officer posts. He alleged that the question paper was scanned and sent out from within the examination center; the questions were then solved externally, and the answers were relayed to the candidates via Bluetooth devices.
BJP leaders claimed that the Registrar had personally admitted to having prior intelligence regarding the potential use of electronic devices during the exam. Despite this, the administration failed to install jammers or implement robust security measures, raising serious questions about the government’s intentions and preparedness.
Sixth Major Recruitment Scam During AAP Government’s Tenure: BJP
BJP leaders assert that this is not an isolated incident but the sixth major recruitment scam to surface during the AAP government’s tenure. Previous instances include irregularities in the Naib Tehsildar recruitment, the leak of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class 12 English paper, the PSTET controversy, and irregularities in PSSSB recruitment. Questioning the AAP’s claims of “zero tolerance” and transparency, BJP leaders pointed out that Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia have historically demanded the resignation of ministers over similar incidents in other states. They asserted that the same ethical standards must now apply in Punjab. They demanded an end to the jeopardizing of the youth’s future and called for the entire recruitment process to be made fair, transparent, and free from cheating.
