LPG Supply Restored in Faridkot: Backlog Caused by Panic Booking to be Cleared Soon: Indane Sales Officer Brings Relief…

Faridkot, April 10 (Alexander D’Souza): The uncertainty surrounding the shortage of cooking gas (LPG) in the Faridkot district over the past few days is now on the path to resolution. Amidst concerns raised by gas agencies and consumers, Mr. Sanchit, a Sales Officer for Indane Gas, has clarified that the supply lines in the district are now fully operational, and the situation is under control. Panic Booking Identified as the Primary Cause of the Backlog: According to the Sales Officer, the district requires an average of 2,029 cylinders per day. A look at the statistics reveals that as of the morning of April 9, distributors held a stock of 2,067 cylinders. He explained that there is no actual shortage of supply; rather, a backlog of 5 to 7 days has accumulated due to “panic bookings” (advance bookings driven by fear) made by consumers during March and April-a backlog the company is committed to clearing shortly. Special Relief for Migrant Workers and Students: The department sprang into immediate action following complaints regarding a shortage of small-sized cylinders.
DFSC (District Food and Supplies Controller) Gurjit Singh Deol provided the following information:
To facilitate migrant workers and students, a large number of 5 kg FTL (Free Trade LPG) cylinders have been released. In the past week alone, 383 cylinders were sold, while 210 new cylinders were supplied on Thursday. These cylinders will now be available not only at gas agencies but also at select grocery stores and IOCL petrol pumps.
Current Supply Status: At a Glance, Category , Supply Status, Remarks Domestic Cylinders 70% Supply 5-7 day delay (due to backlog) Hospitals/ Educational Institutions 100% Quota-No shortage; supply on priority basis Hotels/Commercial Establishments 60% Supply Regular supply continues 5kg FTL Cylinders Available Price: ₹944 (Refill: ₹610) Technical Changes and Transparency. Sunil Jain, owner of Jain Gas Agency, along with several other operators, stated that there has been a 30% surge in bookings, leading to certain technical challenges in managing coordination. Currently, direct control over booking receipts rests with the company. However, officials claim that thanks to digital payment and the OTP (DAC) system, over 90% of deliveries are now being executed with complete transparency.
Appeal: The Food and Supply Department has appealed to the general public not to pay heed to rumors and to book cylinders only as per their actual requirements, so that any unnecessary backlog can be cleared expeditiously.
