Speaker Sandhwan Lays Foundation Stone for Cricket Ground in Kotkapura; ₹5 Lakh Grant Released for Development; Punjab Government Establishing 3,100 Modern Playgrounds Across the State: Kultar Singh Sandhwan


Faridkot/ Kotkapura, May 9 (Alexander D’Souza): S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, took a significant step today towards engaging the youth in sports. He laid the foundation stone for a new cricket ground at the local Dr. Hari Singh Senior Secondary School. During the event, he also announced a special grant of ₹5 lakh to accelerate development works at the sports ground.
The War Against Drugs Through Sports:
Addressing the gathering, S. Sandhwan emphasized that the Punjab government is fully committed to channeling the energy of the youth in a positive direction. The key highlights of his address were as follows:
Robust Infrastructure: To revive the sports culture in Punjab’s villages, 3,100 new playgrounds are being developed.
A Medium for Drug De-addiction: He stated that the construction of these playgrounds would prove to be a ‘milestone’ in keeping the youth away from social evils such as drugs.
A Symbol of Pride: Encouraging the students, Sandhwan remarked that by sweating it out on the sports field, they would not only stay fit but also bring glory to their parents and the state.
