Faridkot, June 2 (Alexander D’Souza): The first highly significant meeting of the ‘Internal Quality Assurance Cell’ (IQAC) at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, has successfully concluded. Held under the direct supervision and chairmanship of the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Sood, the meeting was conducted via a hybrid mode—utilizing both offline and online platforms.
Main Focus on Quality and Academic Excellence:
Commencing the meeting, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Sood extended a warm welcome to all attendees. He highlighted in detail the pivotal role of the IQAC in further strengthening quality standards within the university, as well as in fostering Academic Excellence, Research Activities, and streamlined governance.
Leading National Experts Share Valuable Suggestions:
During the meeting, prominent experts from across the country delivered specialized presentations on various subjects and shared crucial suggestions:
Dr. O.P. Kalra: He delivered a detailed presentation on the “World University Sustainability (WUS) Impact Rankings” and the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Dr. Atul Mohan Kochhar: He underscored the significance of the ‘National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers’ (NABH).
Dr. Pankaj Johari: He provided an introduction to the ‘National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories’ (NABL).
Experts’ Consensus: The speakers emphasized that Accreditation holds immense importance within higher education and healthcare institutions. Therefore, every medical college and laboratory should make vigorous efforts to obtain NABH and NABL accreditation.
Participating in the meeting in person, Madan (Former Dean, MDU), Dr. R.S. Jolly (Former Director, I.M.Tech.), and Prof. Vinay Kapoor Mehra (Former Vice-Chancellor, Ambedkar Law University) advocated for further strengthening the research culture within the university, encouraging teachers and students to engage in research work, and implementing strict regulations to prevent data fabrication (false data).

Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Sood stated that the IQAC would function as a dynamic mechanism for quality improvement within the university. He emphasized the need for skill development among health professionals.
Major Achievement: The university is currently successfully executing research projects worth over ₹4 crore, with hundreds of institutions across Punjab affiliated with it.
University Committed to Achieving Global Rankings, Including NAAC
During the meeting, Prof. (Dr.) Seema Grover Bhatti and other members also shared their views. Summarizing the entire discussion, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Singh stated that the university is fully committed to achieving various national and international accreditations—including NAAC—while upholding the core principle of “Quality over Quantity.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, Research Officer Dr. Ramanpreet Kaur proposed a vote of thanks to all the members and experts present.
