No Shortage of Petrol and Diesel in Faridkot,
-Appeal to Avoid Rumors: Deputy Commissioner
-Oil companies possess ample stock,
-Strict action will be taken against those engaging in black marketing…
Faridkot, March 27 (Alexander D’Souza): Putting an end to rumors circulating regarding the supply of petrol and diesel in the district, Deputy Commissioner Ms. Poonamdeep Kaur has clarified that there is absolutely no shortage of fuel in the district. Today, she held an important meeting with officials from the Food and Supply Department and various oil companies to review the supply chain.
Official Participation in the Meeting:
During the meeting, representatives from major oil companies—including District Food and Supply Controller (DFSC) S. Gurjit Singh Deol—were present. These representatives included:
Indian Oil: Mr. Tejinder Singh
Bharat Petroleum: Mr. Shamsher Singh
Hindustan Petroleum: Mr. Krishna Murari
Reliance Company: Mr. Sumit
Companies Clarify the Situation:
Officials from the oil companies assured the Deputy Commissioner that they have adequate stocks of fuel available. They explained that due to the rumors, people had suddenly started purchasing fuel in large quantities, which led to a temporary depletion of stock at a few petrol pumps. However, supplies were immediately restored by dispatching tankers, and the situation is now completely normal.
Administration’s Stern Warning:
The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to ensure that no petrol pump is allowed to run ‘dry’ (run out of fuel). She stated that if any individual or petrol pump owner is found engaging in hoarding or black marketing of fuel, legal action will be initiated against them.
Advice to Avoid Unnecessary Purchases:
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Mr. Sandeep Malhotra, also appealed to the residents of the district not to panic and to refrain from purchasing petrol, diesel, or LPG cylinders unless absolutely necessary. He urged the public to immediately inform the administration if they come across any instances of black marketing. News: 27-5
