Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): As part of an ongoing campaign against criminals in the district, the Faridkot Police have achieved a major success by apprehending a gang that was planning to rob passersby. The police arrested five members of the gang, seizing sharp-edged weapons from their possession.
Action Taken Based on Intelligence Inputs:
Dr. Pragya Jain (IPS), SSP Faridkot, informed that this operation was conducted by a police team from the Sadar Kotkapura Police Station, under the leadership of Mr. Jogeshwar Singh Goraya, SP (Investigation), and Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, DSP Kotkapura. On March 18, Assistant Sub-Inspector Bhupinder Singh was conducting a routine check near the bus stand in the village of Vadadraka when he received a tip-off from an informer that certain individuals were loitering in the area with the intent to commit robbery. Acting swiftly on this information, the police cordoned off the Vadadraka-Vadadra Jatana road and arrested the five accused individuals. The arrested accused and the recovered items have been identified as follows:
1. Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakhi (Vadadraka).
2. Randeep Singh alias Deepa (Vadadraka).
3. Amandeep Singh alias Amna (Vadadraka).
4. Sukhvir Singh alias Sukh (Kotsukhia).
5. Amandeep Singh (Kotkapura).
From the scene of the arrest, the police recovered one pipe grinder, one *kapa* (cleaver), one wooden handle, and one iron blade (mechanical blade). Criminal Background and Further Action
According to the police, five cases have already been registered against these accused individuals under charges ranging from drug smuggling and the Arms Act to other serious offenses. Now, a new case—Case No. 69 (dated 18.03.2026)—has been registered at the Sadar Police Station, Kotkapura, under Sections 310(4) and 310(5) of the BNS.
The SSP stated that the accused are being taken into police remand to facilitate a detailed investigation into their past connections (both backward and forward linkages). He reiterated that the safety and security of the district’s residents remain the police’s utmost priority, and that criminal elements will not be spared at any cost.
