A New Revolution in Medical Education: National Conference “Simuvers 2026” at Baba Farid University Starting July 5,

-Renowned medical experts from across the country and Punjab Cabinet Ministers to participate
-Doctors to receive modern simulation (practical) training; risk of medical errors to be minimized…
Faridkot, July 3 (Alexander D’Souza): With the aim of providing safe and superior healthcare services to patients in Punjab, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, is organizing a three-day national conference titled “Simuvers 2026” from July 5 to July 7, 2026. The primary objective of this conference is to enhance the quality of treatment and ensure patient safety by providing practical (hands-on) training to doctors, surgeons, and resident doctors using modern technology.
Addressing a press conference today, the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Sood, stated that, much like in developed nations, doctors in Punjab will now receive simulation-based training before treating actual patients. This will allow for repeated practice of new and complex surgical procedures, thereby virtually eliminating the possibility of errors during treatment.
World-Class Training Available Right Here in Punjab
Prof. Sood informed that a state-of-the-art ‘Simulation and Skill Development Center’ has been established at the university with the support of the Punjab Government and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives. It is one of the most modern centers in the country. With the establishment of this center, medical students and doctors in Punjab will no longer need to travel to other states or abroad for high-level training. Practical Training in Modern Technologies
During this three-day conference, experts will receive practical training in the following complex procedures:
Robotic Surgery Simulation: Urology, Gynecology, Oncosurgery, and Colorectal Surgery.
Laparoscopic Procedures: Basic and advanced training on high-fidelity laparoscopic simulators.
Endourology: TURP, TURBT, and Ureteroscopy.
Other Modern Techniques: IVF procedures, Arthroscopy (knee, shoulder, and ankle), Interventional Cardiology, Neurosurgery, and Ultrasound training.
Renowned Personalities to Attend the Conference:
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, Cabinet Minister S. Aman Arora, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, and the Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, will attend this historic event as chief guests.
Additionally, national-level medical leaders—such as Dr. Abhijat Sheth (Chairman, National Medical Commission/NMC), Dr. Anil Kumar J. Nayak (National IMA President), and Dr. Yagya Unmesh Shukla (Chairman, National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions)—along with representatives from major national organizations (FOGSI, ASI, USI), will participate.
Significant Benefit to the General Public:
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rajiv Sood stated that the common people of Punjab would reap the greatest benefit from this historic initiative. Only well-trained doctors can provide safer and more effective treatment to patients. He has appealed to healthcare professionals across the country to participate in this conference in large numbers.
