Dhariwal/ Gurdaspur (Alexander D’Souza): Resonating with the sacred words, “My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations” (Mark 11:17), the dedication ceremony of Christ Church CNI in Dhariwal, District Gurdaspur, concluded with great pomp and spiritual fervor last Tuesday, March 31, 2026. On this historic occasion, members of the Christian community from across Punjab marked their presence.
Chief Guest and Leadership:
This grand event was organized in the dignified presence of the Moderator of the Church of North India (CNI), the Most Reverend Paritosh Canning. Bishop Darbara Singh of the Chandigarh Diocese formally dedicated the church to the Christian congregation. During the prayer service, the atmosphere was steeped in devotion, and the people sang hymns glorifying God.
Senior Members Set an Example:
Jatinder Masih Gaurav, Chairman of the Punjab State Minorities Commission, attended the ceremony from Chandigarh as a special guest. The highlight of the program was the presence of Isaac Nair-the most senior member of the Chandigarh CNI Church-along with other members of the Church Committee. Witnessing their enthusiasm and dedication to the church, the speakers hailed them as role models for the younger generation. The speakers emphasized that similar loyalty and zeal are essential for the progress of the CNI.
Appreciation for Bishop Darbara Singh’s Vision:
Senior member Isaac Nair profusely praised the working style of Bishop Darbara Singh of the Chandigarh Diocese. He remarked that when God entrusts a significant responsibility to a hardworking individual, that person invariably sets an exemplary standard through their honesty and diligence. Under the leadership of Bishop Sahib, the Diocese is scaling new heights of success. Special Presence and Acknowledgments:
On this occasion, the Presbyter-in-Charge, Reverend Robin Varghese, along with the Pastorate Committee and members of the Dhariwal Church, extended a grand welcome to the visiting guests. The event was attended by a large number of members from the Executive Committee of the Chandigarh Diocese, as well as representatives from various churches. The ceremony concluded in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere, featuring special prayers for the progress and peace of society.
