Faridkot, June 24 (Alexander D’Souza): The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has dedicated development works worth over ₹50 crore to the public, offering a significant gift to the Faridkot Assembly constituency. Punjab Water Resources Minister Sh. Barinder Kumar Goyal inaugurated projects worth several crore rupees in Faridkot today. Faridkot MLA S. Gurdit Singh Sekhon was also prominently present on this special occasion.
1. Relief from Traffic Issues: Two Modern Steel Bridges Worth ₹38.16 Crore
Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal inaugurated new single-span steel bridges constructed on two main roads of the city:
Rajasthan Feeder Canal (RD No. 195814): Talwandi Road, Faridkot.
Sirhind Feeder Canal (RD No. 140066): Faridkot-Kotkapura Road.
Features of the Bridges: These new bridges have been constructed using modern technology. The previous bridges at these locations were nearly 60 years old and narrow, causing heavy traffic congestion. The new bridges have a carriageway width of 7.5 meters, with 1200 mm (1.2 meter) wide pedestrian walkways constructed on both sides. These will completely eliminate traffic issues in Faridkot and surrounding areas.

Subsequently, the Cabinet Minister inaugurated 21 concrete water channels (*khalan*) extending from the canal outlet (RD No. 24007) in village Hasan Bhatti to various villages within the assembly constituency.
Total Length: Concrete channels spanning a total length of 34.50 kilometers have been constructed. Direct Benefit: This will provide direct irrigation benefits to 780 acres of land in the area.
Impact: Water wastage (tailing loss) will be curbed, and water will reach the tail-end of the fields rapidly.
1. Launch of ₹96.16 lakh Underground Pipeline (UGPL) project
Taking another step in the interest of farmers, the Water Resources Minister inaugurated an Underground Pipeline (UGPL) project worth ₹96.16 lakh, executed under the NABARD scheme.
