Faridkot Police, in collaboration with the jail administration, conducted a major and covert inspection operation at the local Central Modern Jail on Monday. Under the able leadership of Faridkot SSP Mr. Gurbans Singh Bains, various teams comprising approximately 100 police personnel combed every nook and corner of the jail. This special operation was carried out under the joint supervision of DSP (Sub-Division) Mr. Tarlochan Singh and DSP (Local) Mr. Naveen Kumar. Station House Officers (SHOs) from relevant police stations and jail officials also remained on high alert during the search operation.
Meticulous Inspection of Every Area:
During the search drive, police teams thoroughly inspected prisoners’ barracks, the canteen, public restrooms, the jail’s boundary wall, surveillance cameras (CCTV), and other security arrangements. Every suspicious area was scrutinized from a security perspective.
Special Attention to the Privacy and Dignity of Female Inmates:
DSP Tarlochan Singh stated that female police personnel were specifically deployed to inspect the barracks of female inmates. Throughout the process, full regard was given to the privacy and human dignity of the female inmates while ensuring strict adherence to security protocols.
Operation Kept Completely ‘Secret’:
According to jail officials, the operation was kept entirely secret to ensure that no miscreants could get wind of it beforehand. The primary objective of this surprise inspection is to completely prevent the entry of any illicit items, mobile phones, or drugs into the prison and to make the internal security system impregnable.
A close watch will be kept on suspicious individuals in the vicinity of the prison.
The police administration has clarified that such surprise inspections will continue regularly in the future to instill a fear of the law among inmates with criminal tendencies.
Additionally, strict instructions have been issued to local station house officers (SHOs) to maintain up-to-date records of residents living near the prison’s boundary wall, thereby effectively curbing any plots to throw drugs or other contraband into the prison from the outside.
