The Central Government Seeks to Rig Elections by Purging Opposition Votes: Lawrence Chaudhary

Christian National Front’s District-Level Delegation Meeting Concludes in Ariyanwala Kalan, Faridkot; Appeal Made to Supreme Court to Reconsider its ‘Special Intensive Review’ (SIR) Verdict…
Faridkot, May 28 (Alexander D’Souza): A highly significant district-level delegation meeting of the Christian National Front (CNF) was held in the village of Ariyanwala Kalan, Faridkot. The meeting was presided over by Punjab Senior Vice President Tarsem Sangla and District President Barkat Masih, with special support provided by Bishop Sukhdev Masih. Christian National Front National President Lawrence Chaudhary attended the meeting as the Chief Guest. Sharp Criticism Directed at the Election Commission and the Central Government Addressing the gathering, National President Lawrence Chaudhary leveled serious allegations against the Modi-led Central Government and the electoral process. He stated that, under the Representation of the People Act, 1951, there are clear guidelines for the Election Commission to follow while conducting a ‘Special Intensive Review’ (SIR)-specifically regarding the verification of a citizen’s Indian nationality, the removal of names of deceased persons, and the inclusion of names of individuals under the age of 18. However, the Modi-led Central Government is openly flouting these regulations. “The government’s intention is to siphon off opposition votes and rig the elections.” Lawrence Chaudhary also expressed deep concern regarding the Supreme Court’s recent verdict upholding the Election Commission’s SIR process. He stated that this constitutes a violation of the rights of millions of voters whose names have been struck off the electoral rolls. He made a fervent appeal to the Supreme Court to reconsider this verdict. Even 79 Years After Independence, the Christian Community Remains Deprived of Basic Amenities: Speaking to the media, Lawrence Chaudhary accused political parties of exploiting the Christian community. Expressing his anguish, he noted that even 79 years after independence, the community continues to struggle for basic necessities such as food, clothing, and shelter. In the villages, there are neither cemeteries nor community halls. Citing the village of Araiyanwala Kalan in particular, he pointed out that due to the absence of boundary walls, landowners have encroached upon the cemetery land. He demanded that the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Faridkot take the following actions: The cemetery land must be immediately surveyed and demarcated; and proper arrangements for boundary walls, seating areas, and drinking water facilities must be established there. Energizing the activists, Chaudhary raised the slogan “Rights are not granted; they must be seized”-and issued a call to expand the organization’s membership base. New Appointments: Responsibility Letters Handed Out to Strengthen the Organization: Expanding the organization, the National President announced several new appointments and honored the newly appointed office-bearers by garlanding them and presenting them with their appointment letters: Name | Post/Responsibility Bishop Sukhdev Masih: Senior Vice President (Religious Wing, Punjab); Pradeep: Urban President; Vijay Masih: Urban Vice President; Manpreet: District Executive Member; Narendra, Sohan Masih, and Nirmal: Executive Members. Intensive Discussions Held on These Key Issues as Well: The delegates present at the meeting deliberated in detail on the following major demands and issues concerning the Christian community: The availability of government land for cemeteries; and educated Christians… Higher education for children, reservation quotas, and employment opportunities. Provision of permanent housing for homeless families. Formation of a ‘Christian Regiment’ and government-sponsored facilities for pilgrimages to the holy city of Jerusalem.
