-Civil Defense successfully conducts exercise to handle emergency situations; operation carried out under the supervision of SDM Sukhraj Singh Dhillon…
Faridkot/ Kotkapura, April 24 (Alexander D’Souza):
Adhering to the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and Deputy Commissioner Madam Poonamdeep Kaur, a ‘Civil Defense Air Raid/Blackout’ mock exercise was organized today at Dr. Hari Singh Sevak Senior Secondary School in Kotkapura. The primary objective of this exercise was to assess the efficiency of the district administration and the mutual coordination among various departments during any potential air raid or emergency situation.
Operation Commences with the Sound of Sirens:
Providing details, SDM Kotkapura, S. Sukhraj Singh Dhillon, stated that the ‘Air Raid Warning’ signal was sounded precisely at 7:00 PM. As the siren blared continuously for two minutes, Civil Defense teams immediately sprang into action, and an alert was declared across the entire area.
Successful Demonstration of Rescue Operations:
During the mock drill, various departments worked in coordination to execute the following key operations:
Search and Rescue: Demonstrating promptness, the team successfully located individuals ‘trapped’ inside the ‘affected’ building and evacuated them to a safe location.
Medical Aid: First aid was administered to the injured on the spot, and a drill was conducted to transport critically ‘injured’ individuals to the hospital via ambulance.
Firefighting: The Fire Brigade team practiced bringing a fire under control and clearing obstacles encountered during rescue operations.
Crowd and Traffic Control: The police administration managed the crowd and traffic flow to ensure that relief operations proceeded without any hindrance. At the conclusion of the exercise, an ‘All Clear’ signal was sounded to indicate that the situation had returned to normal.
“The primary objective of this mock drill is to foster better coordination among various departments and to bolster our preparedness in order to minimize loss of life and property during any actual emergency situation,” stated Sukhraj Singh Dhillon, SDM Kotkapura.
Officials Present at the Scene:
Senior officials and staff members from various departments-including Naib Tehsildar Gurcharan Singh Brar, NDRF Sub-Inspector Dharmanshu Yadav, Nirmal Singh (Store Superintendent, Civil Defense), PHG Bohar Singh, Rajwinder Singh, and Mohan Lal-were present during this significant exercise.
