Following the Victory in Chandigarh, a Campaign Now Begins to Save Ferozepur’s ‘Francis Newton Hospital’:

-An Electricity Bill of ₹54 Lakhs Poses a Major Hurdle —
Chandigarh/ Ferozepur (Alexander D’Souza): The wave of solidarity that achieved a historic success in Chandigarh-by securing the waiver of water bills amounting to lakhs of rupees for Christian cemeteries—has now reached Ferozepur. The ‘warriors’ behind that success have now been called upon to lend their assistance in reviving Ferozepur’s historic Francis Newton Hospital.
A Lifeline in Crisis: ₹54 Lakhs in Arrears:
This prestigious hospital in Ferozepur-once a lifeline for healthcare services for the region’s poor—today stands on the brink of plunging into darkness. The hospital currently faces outstanding electricity bill arrears amounting to ₹54 lakhs. Due to years of administrative neglect and financial constraints, the institution was on the verge of closure; however, the hospital’s 60-year-old Alumni Association has now taken up the mantle to save it.
A Special Appeal to the Chandigarh Leadership:
The hospital’s administrators and well-wishers have requested the key pillars of the Chandigarh team-Reverend Rajan Sharda, Gladwin Hardy, Isaac Nair, and Samuel Shafiq—to take the lead in this struggle.
“Just as the unity of the community in Chandigarh made the impossible possible, the same willpower is needed here. If the government were to waive this massive electricity bill as a one-time measure, then, by the grace of God, this institution could once again rise to serve the poor.”
A Message from the Hospital’s Well-Wishers:
New Hope Sparked by Solidarity
The hospital’s alumni and the community believe that if the experienced team from Chandigarh joins hands with the local alumni, they can effectively and forcefully convey their plea to the government. The objective is singular: to restore the hospital’s ‘shining light’ so that the needy people of the region may once again receive world-class, free medical treatment. News: 25-2
