Voter List Revision: Door-to-door distribution of enumeration forms begins in Faridkot district; major decision by Punjab Government,

-Government fees waived at service centers until September 30 for voters lacking necessary documents…
Faridkot, July 4 (Alexander D’Souza):
In accordance with the ‘Special Summary Revision’ (SIR) schedule issued for Punjab by the Election Commission of India, New Delhi, the data collection phase (enumeration phase) commenced in Faridkot district on June 25, 2026.
Providing details on this, Faridkot Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Mr. Rahul Chaba (IAS) stated that under this phase, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are distributing and collecting data collection forms (enumeration forms) through door-to-door visits.
Notices to be issued to those failing to submit forms
The District Election Officer clarified that the names of voters who do not submit their forms during this phase will not be included in the draft voter list.
Notice Phase: Notices will be issued from August 3, 2026, to September 28, 2026, to voters who fail to provide the forms.
Claim/Objection Phase: Subsequently, during the ‘Claim/Objection Phase,’ voters will be required to submit their claims, at which time the necessary documents will be requested from them.
Free services by Punjab Government for citizens lacking documents:
It has come to the administration’s notice that many citizens do not possess the documents required to register their names in the voter list or to make corrections. To facilitate such citizens, the Punjab Government has taken a significant and public-friendly decision. Major Relief: Government fees for obtaining essential documents-whether through service centers, doorstep delivery services, or online channels-have been completely waived from July 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026.
100% fee waiver applicable to the following certificates:
Caste Certificate and Residence Certificate.
Birth Certificate and corrections thereto (covering municipal corporations, urban areas, rural areas, and MC towns).
Duplicate certificates for Class 10 and Class 12.
Appeal to voters by the District Election Officer:
Shri Rahul Chaba has appealed to all citizens of the district who do not possess these documents to take advantage of this golden opportunity and get their certificates made immediately. He stated that these documents should be submitted after receiving a notice from the Electoral Registration Officer so that the voter’s name can be mandatorily included in the ‘Final Voter List’ to be published on October 1, 2026. The District Election Officer specifically cautioned that this fee waiver is valid only until September 30, 2026; thereafter, the government fees will be reinstated.
