Major early-morning action by Faridkot Police; raids on drug hotspots, properties worth ₹30 lakh frozen…
Faridkot, June 17 (Alexander D’Souza): Faridkot Police has achieved a major breakthrough under Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann’s ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign, aimed at making Punjab completely drug-free. Led by SSP Gurbans Singh Bains, a comprehensive ‘Cordon and Search Operation’ (CASO) was conducted across the district early this morning. The primary objective of this special operation is to completely dismantle the drug supply chain at the ‘point of sale’ level.
Simultaneous raids across 3 sub-divisions; over 150 police personnel deployed:
Faridkot SSP Gurbans Singh Bains stated that this action was carried out following strict directives from the Special Director General of Police (Law and Order), Punjab, and Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
Teams were constituted across all three sub-divisions of the district, operating under the direct supervision of DSP-rank gazetted officers. More than 150 police personnel participated in this massive search operation.
The teams conducted surprise and meticulous searches at suspected hideouts of drug smugglers and in identified drug hotspot areas.
Areas sealed; strict surveillance on suspects:
During the operation, the police cordoned off sensitive areas from all sides. All entry and exit routes were completely sealed. Thorough searches were conducted on all suspicious vehicles and individuals passing through.
Special raids were conducted at the premises of individuals who already have cases registered against them under the NDPS Act.
Several suspects have been detained during the operation, and questioning has commenced. Smugglers’ Financial Backbone Broken: Assets Worth Over ₹30 Lakh Frozen
The SSP stated that the police have taken major action to dismantle the financial empires of drug smugglers. Following an investigation into movable and immovable assets amassed through illicit drug proceeds, properties worth more than ₹30 lakh have been frozen (seized) so far—with the approval of the competent authority. The SSP issued a stern warning that no criminal involved in this illicit drug trade would be spared.
