Faridkot: Health Department Sounds the Bugle for ‘World Immunization Week’; No Child or Pregnant Woman Should Be Left Behind: Dr. Gulati

Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): The “World Immunization Week,” being observed by the Health Department from April 24 to April 30, has formally commenced in Faridkot. Under the directives of Civil Surgeon Dr. Parvjit Singh Gulati and the leadership of District Immunization Officer Dr. Husanpal Sidhu, this special campaign was launched from the vaccination center at the Civil Hospital.
**Main Objective of the Campaign:**
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Husanpal Sidhu stated that immunization serves as the foundation for the health of any society. He emphasized that protecting pregnant women from tetanus and young children from life-threatening diseases remains their top priority. The primary goal of this week is to reach out to those children and women who, for any reason, have missed out on their routine vaccinations.
**Special Focus on These Areas:**
In accordance with the directives of the Punjab Health Department, outreach camps will be organized in the remote and sensitive areas of the district. Specifically, the following areas will be covered:
Urban slums and shanty settlements.
Brick kilns.
Gujjar camps and areas with migrant populations.
Regions where access to healthcare services is challenging.
**Survey and Fieldwork:**
Deputy Mass Media Officer Sudhir Dheer and Dr. Prabhdeep Singh Chawla informed that a ‘head count survey’ is currently being conducted in the field by paramedical staff. Through this survey, children whose immunization is incomplete or who have not received any vaccinations at all are being identified.
**Appeal:**
The Health Department has appealed to the general public to play an active role in this campaign. If you know of any pregnant woman or a child aged 0 to 5 years in your vicinity who has missed out on vaccination, please ensure you take them to the nearest camp or health center to get them vaccinated.
