Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): The administration has now adopted a firm stance regarding the legitimate demands of traders and the fundamental civic issues facing the city. Mrs. Poonamdeep Kaur, the Deputy Commissioner of Faridkot, has issued strict directives to district administrative officials, mandating that the grievances of the trading community be resolved on a priority basis.
Presiding over a special review meeting of the District Trade Union here today, the DC made it clear that absolutely no laxity would be tolerated at any level in addressing the complaints of traders.
Strict Instructions to Officials: Clear Pending Work Immediately
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed review of the actions taken thus far by various departments. Reprimanding those departments where complaints remain pending, she asserted that officials found negligent in resolving the issues faced by the public and traders would not be spared. She directed them to ensure the disposal of all pending files without any further delay.
Key Agenda and Discussion Points of the Meeting:
During the meeting, an in-depth discussion was held regarding the following issues affecting the city’s commercial areas:
Traffic and Parking: Emphasis was placed on curbing chaotic traffic in market areas and ensuring adequate parking arrangements.
Basic Amenities: Directives were issued to ensure the efficient cleaning of the sewage system and to provide restroom facilities in public spaces.
Security Arrangements: The functionality of CCTV cameras installed for the city’s security was reviewed to ensure the maintenance of law and order.

Present at this significant meeting, representing the administrative side, were Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mr. Sandeep Malhotra, SDM Faridkot Mr. Puneet Sharma, SDM Kotkapura Mr. Sukhraj Singh, SDM Jaito Mr. Vikramjit, and DRO Ms. Lovepreet Kaur. Meanwhile, Trade Union Chairman Mr. Naresh Singla and Faridkot Chairman Mr. Gurpreet Singh were prominently present to represent the interests of the trading community.
