Coup at Faridkot Grain Market:
-Controversial Committee Dissolved; ‘Ad-hoc Committee’ Takes Charge—

Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): The dispute surrounding the presidency of the Arhtiya (Commission Agents) Association at Faridkot’s New Grain Market came to a dramatic conclusion on Monday. During a scheduled General House meeting held at the Market Committee office, and citing the importance of democratic values, the previous-and controversial-committee was dissolved with immediate effect. To preserve the spirit of brotherhood within the market community, a three-member ‘Ad-hoc Committee’ was unanimously constituted; this committee is slated to be made permanent after one week.
Outrage Over “Closed-Room” Decisions:
During the meeting, a large gathering of Arhtiya declared the election of Bunty Garg and the entire previous committee to be unconstitutional. The commission agents alleged that the previous election lacked transparency; rather, they claimed, a select few had imposed their own will through decisions made behind closed doors. The Arhtiya made it clear that no compromise-of any kind-regarding the market’s unity or its democratic processes would be tolerated.
“Declaring me the ‘Patron’ in my absence-while simultaneously assuming the presidency oneself-is completely wrong. For me, the spirit of brotherhood within the market community stands far above any chair or official position”: Virender Kumar Bansal ‘Bindri’ (Patron).
Responsibilities of the New ‘Ad-hoc Committee’:
Constituted to resolve the dispute and establish a new administrative framework, this committee comprises the following members:
Virender Kumar Bansal ‘Bindri’, Advocate Piyush Bansal, and Raj Machaki.
Committee’s Roadmap and Timeline: The Ad-hoc Committee has been allotted a one-week timeframe to reach out to the members of the previous committee and attempt to forge a consensus.
Final Recourse: Should a consensus fail to emerge within the stipulated one-week period, these three members-having been democratically selected-will be permanently confirmed in their roles, and a new, full-fledged committee will be announced with the inclusion of additional members. Focus on the Rabi Season:
In view of the commencement of the season, the newly formed committee assured the commission agents (Arhtiyas) that no one would be allowed to face any difficulties, whether at the administrative or commercial level. Conveying a message of unity, Advocate Piyush Bansal expressed his gratitude to all the members present.
Key Attendees at the Meeting:
A large number of commission agents were present at this significant meeting, including Raj Machaki, Vipin Kumar Garg, Om Prakash Agarwal, Pramod Bansal, Rahul Jain, Ashwani Gandhi, Mahendra Bansal, Surjit Sandhu, Ravi Goyal, Anil Kumar Ketu, Ranjit Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Kapil Jain, Vikas Garg, Rahul Bansal, Dharampal, Ravi Bansal, Sudhir Chhabra, Rajinder Kumar, Pankaj Bansal, Sahil Sukhija, Raj Kumar Gupta (Hariom), Iqbal Singh Romana, and Nilu Pehalwan.
