The Badal family’s misdeeds will be exposed one by one; they will face severe punishment for their sins: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann

Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann launched his sharpest political attack yet against the Badal family and the Shiromani Akali Dal while addressing a public meeting during the ‘Lok Milni’ (public interaction) program held at Panjgrahi Kalan village in Faridkot today. The Chief Minister issued a stern warning that every misdeed of those who betrayed Punjab and its people would be brought before the public, and they would have to face severe punishment for their sins. Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan was also prominently present on this occasion.
1. Sharp political barbs at the Akali Dal and the Badal family:
Taking the Akalis to task, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann recalled instances where the state’s interests were compromised:
Cornered over farm laws: Mann stated that while the country’s farmers were fighting on the streets for their rights, the Akalis openly supported the Modi government’s ‘black’ farm laws just to save their own positions of power.
Misuse of religion: The Chief Minister alleged that the Akalis always exploited religion for political gain. He noted that those responsible for acts of sacrilege have themselves appeared before Sri Akal Takht Sahib and confessed to their crimes.
Promoting the drug menace: Branding the Akali Dal as the ‘party of sacrilege’ (*beadabi party*), Mann remarked that during their regime, Punjab was turned into ‘White Punjab’ (a reference to the rampant drug trade), where government vehicles were used to supply narcotics.
Questions raised on wealth: Taking a dig at the Badal family—who claim to be farmers—he asked where they acquired such massive buses and luxurious hotels in Gurgaon. He asserted that all this was amassed by selling out the rights of the people.
Jibe at Sukhbir Badal: Mocking Sukhbir Badal, the Chief Minister remarked that he is unaware of ground realities and cannot even distinguish between the major crops grown in Punjab. They want the children of the poor to keep grazing buffaloes instead of becoming officers.
1. Historic achievements and public welfare schemes of the ‘AAP’ government
After lashing out at the opposition, the Chief Minister presented a report card detailing the historic achievements of his government’s four-year tenure:
Key Achievements:
Transparent Government Jobs: Ending the era of corruption in Punjab, over 67,500 government jobs have been awarded entirely on the basis of merit.
Revolution in Education: Punjab, which once ranked 27th in the country in the education sector, has been brought to the number one spot through the efforts of the ‘AAP’ government.
Free Electricity: More than 90 percent of households in the state are receiving zero-amount electricity bills, and farmers are getting uninterrupted electricity supply during the day.
Acquisition of a Private Thermal Plant: While the central government is selling off national assets, the Punjab government has created history by purchasing a private thermal plant and naming it after ‘Sri Guru Amar Das Ji’.
1. Two major historic announcements for women and healthcare:
The Chief Minister shared details of two major public welfare schemes for the people of Punjab:
‘Maavan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ (Launching on July 1st)
The government has allocated a budget of ₹9,300 crore for this scheme- aimed at the economic empowerment and dignity of women- which will directly benefit 97% of the women in Punjab. Under this scheme, funds will be transferred directly to bank accounts:
For Scheduled Caste (SC) women: ₹1,500 per month
For women of all other categories: ₹1,000 per month
Chief Minister Health Scheme
Punjab has become the first state in the country to provide cashless medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh to every family. Under this scheme, the people of Punjab have received free medical treatment worth over ₹650 crore so far. 1. ‘Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act, 2026’ against sacrilege
Visibly moved, the Chief Minister stated that it was his privilege to have the opportunity to implement the ‘Jagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act, 2026’. He assured that the bill had been drafted with such meticulous care under the supervision of legal experts that no legal loophole would be able to undermine it in the future. This law will prove to be a major deterrent against anti-social elements.
