International Yoga Day: Speaker Sandhwan, MLA Sekhon, and DC Perform Yoga; Initiatives like ‘CM’s Yogashala’ Have Brought Yoga to the Common People: Kultar Singh Sandhwan 


-In today’s busy life, making yoga a part of our daily routine is the need of the hour: Gurdit Singh Sekhon
Faridkot, June 21 (Alexander D’Souza): A special yoga event was organized today at the local Darbar Ganj to mark International Yoga Day. Punjab Assembly Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan and local MLA S. Gurdit Singh Sekhon actively participated in the event and performed yoga themselves. Faridkot Deputy Commissioner Sh. Rahul Chaba was also specially present on the occasion. Yoga is a medium to unite humanity: Speaker Sandhwan.
Addressing the event, Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan stated that yoga is doing a remarkable job of uniting humanity by transcending barriers of religion, caste, race, and borders. Expressing his happiness, he commended the Punjab Government and the district administration for celebrating Yoga Day in Faridkot, the sacred land of Baba Farid Ji. Urging the public, he said that for the sake of our health and peace of mind, we should dedicate at least one hour daily to yoga and connecting with nature. Yoga empowers individuals to combat stress and the challenges of everyday life. Speaker Sandhwan extended special thanks to Punjab Chief Minister Sh. Bhagwant Singh Mann and former Delhi Chief Minister Sh. Arvind Kejriwal, noting that initiatives like ‘CM’s Yogashala’ have brought yoga to the doorsteps of the common people, allowing individuals from all sections of society to reap its benefits.
Youth should stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy lifestyle: MLA Sekhon.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA S. Gurdit Singh Sekhon remarked that yoga is an invaluable part of our ancient heritage, providing us with physical fitness as well as mental and spiritual strength. They motivated the youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle and stay away from substance abuse and bad habits. Yoga camps were also organized in Kotkapura and Jaito; great enthusiasm was witnessed across other parts of the district regarding International Yoga Day.
Kotkapura: A special yoga camp was held at Lala Lajpat Rai Park.
Jaito: A camp was organized at the Panchayat Gaushala (cowshed) near Kalu Ram’s Bagh, where people practiced yoga. Prominent figures present: Several senior district officials and dignitaries attended this prestigious event, notably: S. Gurtej Singh Khosa (Chairman, District Planning Board), S. Gagandeep Singh Dhaliwal (Chairman, Improvement Trust).
Shri Sandeep Malhotra (Additional Deputy Commissioner – General), Shri Puneet Sharma (SDM, Faridkot), and Ms. Beant Kaur Sekhon (Guest of Honour). Additionally, senior officials and staff from various departments, along with a large number of local residents, were present.
