Faridkot: Special training for BLOs and BLA-1s to ensure success of the SIR process; campaign to begin on June 25,

In accordance with the directives of the Election Commission of India, the administration has finalized preparations to conduct the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) process—set to launch in Punjab—smoothly and transparently within the district. Under the guidelines of the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, and the supervision of the District Election Officer, Faridkot, a one-day special district-level training camp for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents-1 (BLA-1) was organized today at the Ashok Chakra Hall of the Mini Secretariat.
Providing details on this, District Election Tehsildar Ms. Poonam Sidhu stated that the SIR process is formally commencing in the district on June 25, 2026. During today’s session, staff deployed at the 167 polling stations of Assembly Constituency 88-Kotkapura received detailed training in two separate batches.
Representatives of political parties also participated
A notable feature of this training camp was the enthusiastic participation of Booth Level Agents (BLA-1) appointed by recognized political parties.
Representatives present included:
Shri Mandeep Singh Moranwali (Shiromani Akali Dal),
Shri Varinder Singh (Bahujan Samaj Party),
Shri Nachhatar Singh and Shri Thakar Singh (CPI-M).
They attended the session and gained an understanding of the electoral process.
Master trainers explained the nuances:
During the training, election staff and representatives were provided with detailed guidance on the upcoming process, which primarily includes:
Conducting door-to-door surveys. Verification of existing voter details.
Proper procedure for the disposal of new claims and objections.
This training was imparted in a very simple and practical manner by Shri Parminder Singh (Tehsildar-cum-Assistant Electoral Registration Officer-1) and a team of Assembly Level Master Trainers (ALMTs). The team included Jaspreet Singh, Vicky Singh, Amlok Singh Sidhu, Jaspal Singh, Puran Nath, Surinder Kumar, Jasjit Singh, Sandeep Devra, Amandeep Devra, and Spurjan John Kotkapura.
‘Help Desk’ and toll-free number 1950 launched for assistance:
The District Election Tehsildar stated that ‘Help Desks and Grievance Redressal Cells’ have been set up at the offices of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) at both the constituency and district levels to address any queries or complaints regarding the SIR process. Citizens can contact these offices during working hours. Additionally, the Election Commission’s toll-free number 1950 can also be contacted. He appealed to all district residents and voters to extend their full cooperation to the administration to ensure the success of this voter revision process.
