Faridkot, May 25 (Alexander D’Souza):
The Election Commission of India (ECI), New Delhi, has released the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (Special Revision) of the voter lists in the state of Punjab. Following the directives issued by the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, Election Tehsildar Smt. Poonam Sidhu held a special meeting with representatives of all recognized political parties in the district.
**The Role of ‘BLAs’ is Crucial for Transparency**
During the meeting, the Election Tehsildar briefed the political representatives present in detail regarding the schedule and new guidelines for the Special Intensive Revision. She emphasized that the participation and cooperation of political parties are absolutely essential to ensure that this vital process of voter list revision is conducted with complete transparency.
“The Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of political parties can play a pivotal role—working in tandem with the Booth Level Officers (BLOs)—to ensure that the voter lists are rendered completely accurate and error-free,” stated Smt. Poonam Sidhu (Election Tehsildar).
Smt. Sidhu appealed to all parties to appoint their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) as soon as possible so that the BLOs may receive full support throughout the duration of this campaign. The representatives from various political parties attending the meeting gave their firm assurance to the election administration that they would appoint their respective BLAs shortly and share the list of these appointees with the administration.
