Faridkot, April 15 (Alexander D’Souza): With the objective of revitalizing the Faridkot Assembly constituency, MLA S. Gurditt Singh Sekhon today announced a slew of development projects. The appearance of various wards across the city is set to be transformed using a discretionary fund of ₹2.50 crore released by the Punjab government. MLA Sekhon clarified that the primary focus of this budget is to pave those streets that were left unfinished by previous administrations following the installation of sewerage lines.
Key Development Highlights: Where and What Will Be Done?
According to the list released by the MLA, work will commence on the following projects to strengthen the city’s infrastructure:
Health and Drinking Water: For the convenience of patients, a massive RO plant with a capacity of 2,000 liters per hour will be installed at the Medical Hospital.
Roads and Streets: Streets in Sai Enclave, Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, Dashmesh Nagar, Shahbaz Nagar (Lane No. 6), Teacher Colony, and New Cantt Road will be spruced up by installing interlocking tiles.
Amenities and Beautification: Swings for children, an open-air gym for the youth, and concrete benches for the elderly will be installed at the Darbar Ganj Rest House.
Social Infrastructure: A community hall will be constructed in Bajigar Basti; the Valmiki Community Hall in Ara Market will undergo renovation; and a new Dharamshala (rest house) will be built in Dashmesh Nagar.
Traffic and Safety: High-mast lights will be installed at the Ferozepur Road T-point. Additionally, modern bus queue shelters will be constructed near Old Jail Road and the Medical Hospital gate. Emphasis on Transparency and Quality:
MLA Sekhon stated that a total of ₹241.50 lakh is being spent on all these projects. He remarked, “Departmental officials have been instructed to expedite the tender process. Our objective is not merely to lay foundation stones, but to ensure high-quality construction so that the public may reap its benefits for years to come.”
These announcements have sparked a wave of jubilation among the city residents, as they now harbor renewed hope of relief from the streets that have long remained in a dilapidated state due to ongoing sewerage works.
