Faridkot Police Makes History: ‘Bada Khana’ Organized for the First Time on the Initiative of SSP Dr. Pragya Jain…

Faridkot, May 15 (Alexander D’Souza): Setting a strong precedent for unity, trust, and brotherhood within the Faridkot Police force, a special ‘Bada Khana’ (community feast) was organized for all police personnel under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Faridkot, Dr. Pragya Jain. The concept of ‘Bada Khana’—typically considered an integral part of the rich traditions of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force—has been adopted in the Faridkot district for the very first time. The primary objective of this unique initiative is to boost the morale of the police force and to strengthen mutual bonds among its members.
Civil and Judicial Officers, Along with Retired Personnel, Participate:
On this special occasion, the Deputy Commissioner of Faridkot, Mr. Rahul Chaba, was present as a special guest. In addition to him, approximately 450 individuals—including the Sessions Judge, Vice-Chancellor, various civil and judicial officers, officials from the Jail Department, gazetted officers of the Faridkot Police, SHOs, personnel from the SSF, GRP, and CID, and notably, retired police personnel—witnessed this grand event.
“The Khaki Uniform is Not Merely a Symbol of Duty, but an Emblem of Familial Bond”: Addressing the gathering, SSP Dr. Pragya Jain stated that this program beautifully encapsulates the “family spirit” of the Khaki uniform—representing Service, Security, and Friendship. She emphasized that the police force’s true strength lies in its operational ethos, mutual trust, and collective understanding. When the police force works together as a unified family, every challenge can be confronted with even greater resilience.
Concurring with this sentiment, DSP (Local) Mr. Naveen Kumar remarked that such events serve to boost the morale of the personnel and foster a profound sense of belonging among them. Poetry, Skits, and Giddha Captivate the Audience:
Taking a break from their demanding duties, police personnel gathered on a single stage to present a vibrant cultural program:
Patriotic Melodies: An inspiring performance by the Faridkot Police Band infused a renewed sense of enthusiasm in everyone present.
Skits and Giddha: Probationer Sub-Inspectors presented a special skit depicting the operational workings of the police force, while female police personnel enlivened the atmosphere with a performance of the traditional *Giddha*.
Evocative Poetry: Constable Prabhjot Kaur, posted at the Golewala Police Post, recited a poem lauding the leadership of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).
Meanwhile, Senior Constable Anu Bala of the Traffic Police—taking a satirical dig at societal mindsets—declared in her poem: “To those who claim that a girl cannot manage a household, come and witness how our ‘Madam’ is looking after the entire city!” These performances were met with thunderous applause from the audience.
Recognition of Officers Honored with the Chief Minister’s Medal:
Sharing his joy on this occasion, PCR In-charge Dharampal Singh remarked that it is a matter of immense pride for the Faridkot Police that three officers from the district have been honored with medals by the Chief Minister of Punjab in recognition of their exemplary service.
Conclusion:
This ‘Bada Khana’ (community feast) was not merely limited to a shared meal; rather, it played a pivotal role in fostering strong teamwork, mutual dialogue, and coordination within the police department. This heartwarming interaction between the SSP and the police personnel has now become a topic of discussion throughout the entire Punjab Police force. It is hoped that, inspired by this successful initiative of the Faridkot Police, other districts will also adopt similar measures to boost the morale of their personnel.
