On the occasion of International Labour Day (May 1st), thousands of employees and pensioners will take to the streets of Faridkot to stage a show of strength in support of their demands. Blueprint for the Struggle: March to Begin from Darbar Ganj. A crucial meeting of the Joint Front’s veteran leaders was held today at the local Pensioners’ Bhawan to finalize preparations. Clarifying the agenda of the struggle, the leaders stated: Time: May 1st, 10:00 AM. Location: Darbar Ganj Rest House (Massive Joint Rally). Action: Following the rally, a protest demonstration will be held by conducting a motorcycle and scooter march through the city’s main markets. Sharp Attack on the Government: “A Government That Backed Out on Promises.” Addressing the meeting, Prem Chawla, Jatinder Kumar, and Inderjit Singh Khiwa asserted that the policies of both the Central and State governments are serving only to benefit corporate houses. They alleged that the Mann government has completely reneged on its electoral promises, a betrayal that has sparked immense outrage among the working class and employees. Key Demands on Which the Joint Front Stands Firm: Demand | Details. Pending DA (Dearness Allowance) | Six pending installments of DA, calculated at a rate of 18%, must be released immediately. Court Verdict | The verdict delivered by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on April 8, 2026, must be implemented. Restoration of OPS | The Old Pension Scheme must be fully restored without any preconditions. Regularization | Contractual, outsourced, ASHA workers, Mid-Day Meal staff, and Anganwadi workers must be granted permanent employee status. “This battle is for our rights and our dignity.
