Faridkot, April 16 (Alexander D’Souza): The ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ (My Home, My Name) campaign-launched by the Punjab government with the objective of granting the state’s residents actual ownership rights over their properties-is yielding tangible results at the grassroots level. In line with this initiative, Faridkot MLA S. Gurdit Singh Sekhon today handed over legal ownership documents for their homes to villagers during a special ceremony held in the village of Hardiyalana.
Government’s Decision is Historic: MLA Sekhon
Addressing the villagers, MLA S. Sekhon stated that this move by the government-led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-is both historic and pro-people. He emphasized the following points:
Legal Security: Families in the villages will now possess concrete legal documents for their properties, thereby eliminating any fear of encroachment or eviction.
End to Long-Standing Disputes: The granting of ownership rights will automatically resolve long-pending land-related disputes and court cases.
Major Post-Independence Reform: Sekhon noted that these issues had remained unresolved since the time of independence, and the current government has successfully resolved them by demonstrating strong political will.
“The primary objective of this scheme is to liberate the common man from mental anxieties and to establish them with self-respect as the rightful ‘owners’ of their own homes”: S. Gurdit Singh Sekhon, MLA, Faridkot.
