Faridkot, May 19 (Alexander D’Souza): The Faridkot District Police have achieved a major success as part of a special campaign being conducted against anti-social elements and criminals. Under the leadership of Dr. Pragya Jain (IPS), SSP Faridkot, and acting under the guidance of Mr. Jogeshwar Singh Goraya, SP (Investigation), and Mr. Tarlochan Singh, DSP (Sub-Division) Faridkot, the police have arrested five members of an active gang red-handed while they were plotting a theft and robbery.
Identification of the Arrested Accused:
The accused individuals taken into police custody have been identified as follows:
Sarabjit Singh alias Bablu (Resident: Mai Godri Sahib, Faridkot)
Rahul alias Kala (Resident: Mai Godri Sahib, Faridkot)
Sonu Singh (Resident: Bholu Wala Road, Faridkot)
Khushdeep Singh alias Lovely (Resident: Village Pipli, Faridkot)
Gurjit Singh (Resident: Village Bhana, District Faridkot)
Raid Near Aircraft Ground; Accused Apprehended with Weapons:
According to the information received, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Gurjit Singh, posted at Police Station City-2, Faridkot, was out with his team for patrolling and checking for suspects in the area. During this time, the police received credible intelligence from an informer stating that the aforementioned accused individuals were armed with dangerous weapons and were lying in wait to rob passersby.
Without wasting any time, the police party conducted a raid near the Faridkot Aircraft Ground, cordoned off the area, and apprehended all five accused individuals. List of Recoveries:
01 Kirpan, 01 Axe, and 01 *Toka* (Chopper),
02 Wooden sticks/batons,
06 Large stolen brass/metal vessels (Degs),
Confession regarding incidents at Amar Ashram and Dogar Basti:
During preliminary police interrogation, the accused admitted that the 06 large vessels recovered were stolen by them from ‘Amar Ashram’ on the intervening night of May 17 and 18. Furthermore, two key members of the gang—Sarabjit Singh alias Bablu and Rahul alias Kala-confessed to having committed a major burglary at an unoccupied house in Dogar Basti on the night of May 16.
Prior Criminal Record; Case Registered under New Law (BNS):
The apprehended individuals are professional criminals. According to police records, there are already 06 criminal cases registered against them involving theft, organized crime, and other serious offenses under various sections of the law.
In connection with this latest incident, a case has been registered at Police Station City-2, Faridkot, under Case No. 240 (dated 18.05.2026), invoking Sections 310(4), 310(5), and 317(2) of the *Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita* (BNS).
Commendable Role Played by CCTV and PCR Teams:
The promptness of the Faridkot Police PCR teams and the use of digital surveillance played a pivotal role in unearthing this entire gang. By meticulously analyzing footage from CCTV cameras installed across various parts of the city, police teams gathered crucial leads that facilitated the tracing of the accused’s locations and their subsequent apprehension.
Court Appearance and Preparation for Remand:
According to the police administration, the accused are being produced before the Honorable Court to be taken into police remand. Police officials believe that intensive interrogation during the remand period holds strong potential for solving several other major cases involving theft, robbery, and dacoity. No criminal who takes the law into their own hands or promotes crime will be spared.”
