World Malaria Day: Faridkot Health Department Launches Awareness Campaign… 


Faridkot, April 25 (Alexander D’Souza): On the occasion of ‘World Malaria Day,’ the Faridkot Health Department has taken a significant step towards the eradication of malaria. Under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr. Parvjit Singh Gulati, various awareness activities were organized across the district today, with the primary objective of alerting the general public about this deadly disease and educating them on preventive measures.
Treatment and Testing Completely Free at Government Hospitals
Civil Surgeon Dr. Gulati clarified that the Health Department is fully prepared to combat malaria. He stated that malaria testing and medicines are available completely free of cost at all government health institutions within the district.
Special Surveys and Strategy:
Sharing the department’s action plan, District Epidemiologist Dr. Himanshu Gupta stated:
Focus on High-Risk Areas: Special surveys and testing are being conducted among laborers residing in slum settlements, brick kilns, industrial units, and buildings currently under construction.
Appeal for Public Cooperation: Dr. Gupta emphasized that a malaria-free society is possible only when people are aware. He urged individuals to get tested immediately and seek a doctor’s advice in case of fever.
Health Experts’ Advice on Prevention
During the campaign, experts offered the following suggestions for protection against mosquitoes:
1. Mosquito Nets: Always use a mosquito net while sleeping.
2. Clothing: Wear clothes that fully cover the body (full-sleeved shirts and trousers).
3. Use of Creams: Apply mosquito-repellent creams or lotions.
4. Prompt Treatment: In case of high fever or body aches, reach the nearest health center without delay. Officials Present at the Venue
Deputy Mass Media Officer Sudhir Dheer, Dr. Prabhdeep Singh Chawla, Assistant Malaria Officer Chhinderpal Singh, Health Supervisor Dhaminder Singh, Suresh Kumar, Mandeep Singh, Harbhajan Singh, and Amarjit Singh-along with other departmental staff members-were present at this awareness campaign.
