Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): The Faridkot Police have achieved a significant breakthrough as part of a special drive currently underway against criminal elements. Acting on the directives of SSP Dr. Pragya Jain, the police apprehended five members of an inter-district gang just as they were plotting to execute a major robbery using sharp-edged weapons.
How the Arrests Unfolded: The Police Raid:
According to reports, a police team from City Police Station-2 was on patrol under the leadership of SSP Dr. Pragya Jain and the supervision of SP (Investigation) Jogeshwar Singh Goraya. During this time, Assistant Superintendent of Police Gurjit Singh received a tip-off that several youths were hiding with weapons behind the market gate near Sadiq Chowk, lying in wait to rob passersby.
Under the supervision of Chamkaur Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of City Police Station-2, the police team immediately conducted a raid and apprehended all five accused red-handed.
Identification of the Apprehended Accused:
The names of the accused taken into police custody are as follows:
Kuldeep Singh (Resident of Balbir Basti, Faridkot)
Sukhwinder Singh alias Jangnu (Resident of Balbir Basti, Faridkot)
Manpreet Singh alias Mani (Resident of Dashmesh Nagar, Faridkot)
Mangal Singh alias Manga (Resident of Hargobind Nagar, Faridkot)
Ravi (Resident of Dana Mandi, Faridkot)
Weapons Recovered and Criminal History:
The police have recovered lethal weapons from the possession of the accused, including: 03 Kirpans, 01 large chopper (Kapa), and 01 wooden stick.
The investigation has also revealed that Mangal Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, and Kuldeep Singh are hardened criminals. They already have 8 serious cases registered against them, involving crimes such as drug trafficking and theft. The police have registered a case at City-2 Police Station under the relevant sections of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita).
Message from the SSP:
The SSP of Faridkot stated that the safety and security of the district’s residents remain his utmost priority. He further informed that the arrested accused are being taken on remand from the court to facilitate their intensive interrogation, with the aim of uncovering their network and shedding light on other criminal incidents.
