Major Incident Averted: Kotkapura Police Uncover Gang of Robbers Armed with Sharp-Edged Weapons,
-Were planning a robbery at the New Grain Market,

Faridkot/ Kotkapura (Alexander D’Souza): The Faridkot Police have achieved a major success in maintaining law and order within the district. Acting on the strict directives of Faridkot SSP Dr. Pragya Jain (IPS), the police from Kotkapura City Police Station have arrested five members of a gang—who had gathered with the intent to commit robbery—before they could carry out their crime.
Action Taken Based on Confidential Intelligence:
According to reports, under the guidance of SP (Investigation) Jogeshwar Singh Goraya and DSP Sanjeev Kumar, a police team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Navdeep Singh was conducting checks on suspicious individuals along Bathinda Road. During this operation, an informer provided a tip-off that several individuals, armed with deadly weapons, were hiding inside the New Grain Market in Kotkapura and plotting a major robbery. The police immediately conducted a raid, cordoned off the area, and arrested all five accused individuals on the spot.
Identification of the Arrested Accused:
The individuals arrested by the police include:-
.Akashdeep Singh alias Kader Khan (Resident of Bargari).
•Arshdeep Singh alias Deep (Resident of Bargari).
•Jagmal Singh alias Jamna (Resident of Bargari).
•Kuljit Singh (Resident of Bargari).
•Shiv Kumar (Resident of Gandhi Basti, Kotkapura).
Case Registered Following Recovery of Deadly Weapons:
The police have recovered one iron rod, two Kirpans, and two iron sickles from the arrested accused. A case—FIR No. 56, dated 19.03.2026—has been registered against the accused at Kotkapura City Police Station under Sections 310(4) and 310(5) of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita). Further Investigation and Remand:
According to the police, preliminary investigations have revealed that this gang was planning to carry out a major incident in the area. The police will now produce the accused in court to seek their remand, in order to uncover their past links and investigate other potential incidents. The SSP reiterated that the safety and security of the district’s residents remain the police’s utmost priority, and that criminals will not be spared at any cost.
