Moga/Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): Laying the foundation for a major shift in Punjab’s politics, the ‘Badlav Rally’ (Rally for Change)-organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Moga-has completely heated up the state’s political landscape. Held in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, this massive rally set a new record with the participation of 158,131 people. The party has claimed that it has become the first political party in the country to provide digital proof of every single individual attending a rally, achieved through the use of technology.
Enthusiasm from Faridkot: Gaurav Kakkar
Sharing details regarding the success of the rally, Gaurav Kakkar, the BJP District President for Faridkot, stated that there was immense enthusiasm among the people of Faridkot district. He noted that 50 buses departed from Faridkot, 56 from Kotkapura, and 42 from Jaito. In addition to the buses, a large number of people also arrived in their private cars. In total, a crowd of approximately 4,000 people from Faridkot district became part of this historic rally.
Record-Breaking Crowd and a 15 km-Long Traffic Jam:
The fervor surrounding the rally was so intense that it resulted in a 15-kilometer-long traffic jam on the roads leading to Moga. Due to the sheer volume of the crowd, nearly 800 buses got stuck en route, forcing thousands of people to walk 4-5 kilometers on foot to reach the rally venue. The situation was such that the *Langar* (community kitchen), originally prepared to serve 100,000 people, proved insufficient in the face of the overwhelming flood of attendees.
Mobilizing Crowds through a High-Tech Strategy:
Presenting the statistics, BJP State Chief Spokesperson Anil Sareen stated that the party has successfully established its reach across 13,000 villages and 24,500 polling booths spanning all 23 districts of the state. He stated that:
Village meetings were mapped using QR codes.
State President Sunil Jakhar and other senior leaders remained in contact with party workers through voice calls and virtual meetings.
A total of 3,793 buses and 2,376 cars were arranged to transport people.
Mr. Sareen remarked that such a massive voter turnout sends a clear message that the people of Punjab now desire a major political change in the state, and their trust in the BJP is steadily growing.
