District Election Officer holds key meeting with political parties regarding the rationalization of polling stations…

Faridkot, July 7 (Alexander D’Souza): The process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR-2026) is currently underway in Punjab, in accordance with the schedule issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), New Delhi. As part of this process, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr. Rahul Chaba (IAS) held a special meeting today with representatives of all recognized political parties to discuss the rationalization of polling stations, in compliance with ECI directives. Proposal for 42 new booths for voter convenience: During the meeting, District Election Officer Mr. Rahul Chaba stated that, in strict adherence to ECI guidelines, it has been ensured that the number of voters at any single polling booth does not exceed 1,200. He noted that this directive has been strictly implemented across all polling booths in Faridkot district. Additionally, the provision of Assured Minimum Facilities (AMFs) at every polling station has been ensured.
Key Change: A proposal has been prepared to establish new polling stations in Faridkot district based on requirements. Under this proposal, the plan is to increase the total number of polling stations in the district from 511 to 553. The matter will be forwarded to the Election Commission of India, New Delhi, through the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, for approval.

There is a proposal to set up a total of 42 new polling booths in the district, with details as follows:
87-Faridkot: 22 rural and 3 urban (Total 25).
88-Kotkapura: 6 rural and 6 urban (Total 12).
