Medical Education in Punjab Gets a Boost: Grand Kick-off of the Three-Day National Conference “Simuvers 2026” at BFUHS… 


Faridkot, July 5 (Alexander D’Souza): A historic step was taken today towards elevating medical education and healthcare infrastructure in Punjab to a global standard. The three-day national conference “Simuvers 2026” was inaugurated at the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) in Faridkot. The primary objective of this conference is to provide practical training to doctors, postgraduate students, and nursing and allied health sciences staff through modern simulation technology, ensuring safer and higher-quality treatment for patients.
Cabinet Ministers Inaugurate State-of-the-Art Simulation Facilities
This grand national conference was jointly inaugurated by Punjab Cabinet Minister (Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training) Mr. Aman Arora and Cabinet Minister (Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities) Dr. Baljit Kaur.
On this occasion, new modern facilities were also unveiled at the university, including:
Geriatric Care Provider Lab
Emergency Medical Technician Lab
Advanced Surgical Simulation Center
Multidisciplinary Advanced Surgical Anatomy and Imaging Lab

These state-of-the-art labs will offer medical professionals and students an excellent opportunity to practice complex procedures in a completely safe and controlled simulated environment before performing them on actual patients.
Punjab to Become a Leading Hub for Medical Education: Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Sood
During the welcome address, BFUHS Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Sood stated that “Simuvers 2026” marks a revolutionary step towards establishing Punjab as a major hub for simulation-based medical education. He stated that during this three-day event, participants from across the country would receive hands-on training in:
Laparoscopic and robotic surgery
Endourology and reproductive medicine
Arthroscopy and neurosurgery
Interventional cardiology and ultrasound-based procedures.
Dr. Sood emphasized that the general public would directly benefit from this advanced training through improved and error-free healthcare services.
**Experts Applaud the University’s Vision**
Cabinet Minister Mr. Aman Arora praised the modern facilities developed by the university, stating, “In today’s era, there is a greater need for high-level skills than just degrees. Simulation training boosts doctors’ confidence, thereby ensuring patient safety. Under the leadership of Prof. Rajiv Sood, the university has scaled new heights.”
Meanwhile, recalling her long-standing association with the university, Dr. Baljit Kaur expressed pride in seeing BFUHS host such a major national-level conference. She congratulated the entire team for elevating the standards of medical education.
On this occasion, MLA and Board of Management member Mr. Gurdit Singh Sekhon also commended the rapid progress being made by the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and the university team.
**Renowned Medical Experts from Across the Country Participated**
Eminent experts from the country’s top medical institutions—such as Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Kumar Rawal, Prof. (Dr.) Anup Kumar, Prof. (Dr.) P.P. Singh, Prof. (Dr.) Rishi Nair, and Prof. (Dr.) Anil Varshney—participated in the conference and were specially honored by the university administration.
A large number of faculty members and students attended the event, including Registrar Mr. Arvind Kumar, Dean Dr. Deepak John Bhatti, Controller of Examinations Dr. Rajiv Sharma, Medical College Principal Dr. Seema Grover Bhatti, Medical Superintendent Dr. Neetu Kukkar, Dr. Jasbir Kaur, and Organizing Secretary Dr. Shaurabh Sinha.
