National Award for Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Blood Center: Punjab Shines on the National Stage… 


Faridkot, June 16 (Alexander D’Souza): The Blood Center at ‘Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital’ (GGSMCH)-affiliated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot-has achieved a major milestone at the national level, bringing pride to the entire state of Punjab. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has honored the center with a National Award in recognition of its outstanding and exemplary contributions to blood transfusion services. This prestigious award was presented during the “National Level NGO Conclave on Blood Transfusion Services” held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Why was this National Award conferred ?
The Blood Center, operating under the Department of Immuno-haematology and Blood Transfusion at GGSMCH, earned this national recognition for the following excellent services:
Safe Blood Transfusion: Strengthening blood transfusion services and promoting the use of safe blood.
Voluntary Blood Donation: Successfully conducting voluntary blood donation campaigns.
High-Quality Service: Ensuring the round-the-clock availability of high-quality blood and blood components for patients in need.
A Matter of Pride for All of Punjab: Vice-Chancellor
Expressing happiness over this historic achievement, Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Sood, Vice-Chancellor of Baba Farid University, congratulated the entire Blood Center team. He stated that this honor is a source of immense pride not only for the medical college and the university but for the entire state of Punjab. This success reflects the institution’s commitment to superior patient care, high quality, and social responsibility. He also highly commended the collective contribution of the department’s team, voluntary blood donors, and various social organizations (NGOs) in achieving this success. Dr. Neetu Kukkar, Professor and Head of the Department of Immuno-haematology and Blood Transfusion, expressed her gratitude to everyone on this occasion.
