Agri Stack: Creation of a ‘Farmer ID’ is Mandatory for Farmers,

-Registration is Completely Free,
-If any CSC Center Demands a Fee, Report it Immediately to the Agriculture Department: Dr. Kulwant Singh
Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): The Government of India has made the creation of a ‘Farmer ID’ mandatory under the ‘Agri Stack’ scheme to introduce transparency in the agricultural sector and to ensure that benefits intended for farmers reach them directly. Dr. Kulwant Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer of Faridkot, has clarified that the process of creating this ID is absolutely free, and no fee whatsoever may be charged to farmers.
Farmer ID Essential for Subsidies:
Dr. Kulwant Singh stated that, henceforth, every farmer must possess a unique Farmer ID to continue receiving subsidies provided by the Government of India on fertilizers, agricultural machinery, and other agricultural inputs. He noted that details regarding farmers’ land holdings are already available online and are now being linked with their Aadhaar cards to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the genuine beneficiaries.
Camps Being Organized in Villages:
The Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare is organizing training camps in villages to raise awareness among farmers. Representatives from Common Service Centers (CSCs) are also participating in these camps to facilitate the on-the-spot creation of Farmer IDs for the farmers.
Action Will Be Taken Against Those Charging Fees:
The Chief Agriculture Officer stated in a stern tone that this service is being provided free of cost by the government. He issued strict instructions to the Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) operating the CSCs not to charge any fee from farmers. He appealed to the farmers that if any employee demands money in exchange for creating a Farmer ID, they should immediately report the matter to the concerned Block or Village Agriculture Officers so that appropriate action may be taken.
