Faridkot, June 6 (Alexander D’Souza): A commendable initiative has been undertaken by the district administration and the Program Office, Faridkot, with the aim of empowering girls and helping them advance in the fields of sports and education. A grand event was organized at the local Nehru Stadium to distribute sports kits to female athletes from the Sports Department’s coaching center under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter) campaign. Faridkot MLA Sardar Gurdit Singh Sekhon attended the ceremony as the chief guest and handed over the kits to the athletes.
Highlights of the address – ‘Providing the right platform for daughters is essential’: While addressing the gathering, MLA Gurdit Singh Sekhon highly praised the district administration’s effort. He stated that it is crucial for girls to receive the right platform and facilities to excel in the sports arena alongside their academic pursuits. Sports not only aid in the physical and mental development of children but also instill a spirit of competition and self-confidence in them.
MLA Sekhon further added that the true objective of the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign is to provide girls with opportunities equal to those of boys in every sector of society. Today, our daughters are achieving great success and making their mark in every field. He urged all the athletes and students present at the event to work hard in both sports and education so that they could bring glory to their parents and the Faridkot district, both nationally and internationally.
