NREGA Workers Launch Protest Against Anti-Labor Policies: Contingent Departs from Faridkot for Mohali Rally ,

Faridkot, May 19 (Alexander D’Souza): Responding to a call issued by the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and the ‘Punjab Subordinate Services Federation’ (Sector 22-B, Chandigarh), a massive state-level rally is being organized today at the Labor Bhawan in Mohali to press for the legitimate demands of NREGA workers, agricultural laborers, and workers from various other sectors. To raise their voices at this grand rally, a large contingent of NREGA workers from the Faridkot district departed today from the local ‘Shaheed Comrade Amolak Singh Bhawan,’ under the leadership of Comrade Veer Singh Kamiana, bound for Mohali.
Strong Condemnation of Government Policies:
While addressing the large gathering of workers and employee leaders prior to their departure for Mohali, the labor leaders strongly condemned the alleged ‘anti-labor policies’ being implemented by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
The leaders emphatically demanded that the Punjab government:
Immediately resolve the long-pending issues concerning NREGA workers, agricultural laborers, and workers belonging to all other categories.
They warned that if the government fails to take positive steps regarding these demands in the near future, the ongoing struggle will be further intensified and escalated in the days to come. Key Figures at the Rally:
On this occasion, several prominent employee and labor leaders were present to boost the morale of the workers and flag off the contingent. Notable among them were: Balkar Singh Sahota (General Secretary, Class IV Government Employees Union, District Faridkot).
NREGA Labor Leaders: Gora Pipli, Sukhminder Singh Dhuri, Natha Singh Arayan Wala Kalan, Gurjant Singh Nawan Kila, Bagga Singh, Thakur Singh, Mahinder Singh, and Kewal Singh.
Women Mate Leaders: Mate Lovepreet Kaur Pipli, Mate Kuldeep Kaur Kot Sukhiya, Mate Sarabjit Kaur Chand Baja, Mate Gurpreet Kaur Kot Sukhiya, Mate Veerpal Kaur, Kirandeep Kaur, and Jaswinder Kaur.
In addition to the above, a large number of NREGA workers and union members were present at the event, raising vociferous slogans against the government.
