Francis Newton Mission Hospital Receives a New Lifeline; Alumni Transform the Hospital’s Landscape-On May 10, Bishop Darbara Singh to Inaugurate New X-Ray Unit and Renovated Complex…

Ferozepur (Alexander D’Souza): There is great news for the historic city of Ferozepur. The city’s renowned ‘Francis Newton Mission Hospital’-which had been passing through a period of extreme fragility and financial distress for some time-is now once again returning to its former glory. There was a time when the administration lacked even the funds to pay staff salaries, leading to a mass exodus of employees. However, the institution’s ‘Global Alumni’ (former students) have now breathed new life into the hospital through their solidarity and generous donations.
Special Inauguration Ceremony: A grand inauguration and dedication ceremony is being organized within the hospital premises on Sunday, May 10, 2026. The Chief Guest for this ceremony will be His Excellency Darbara Singh (Bishop, Diocese of Chandigarh, CNI), who will dedicate the new facilities to public service.
Unveiling of New Facilities:
Several significant changes have been implemented to bring the hospital in line with modern standards:
Advanced Diagnostics: A new main X-Ray unit and a specialized Dental X-Ray unit.
Improved Infrastructure: A new reception area, billing counter, and a state-of-the-art pharmacy.
Emergency Services: A new laboratory, a fully renovated Casualty (Emergency) Room, and an ICCU.
Comfortable Accommodation: Provision of modern private rooms for patients.
Safety Standards: Strict adherence to guidelines regarding Biomedical Waste Management, Fire Safety, and the Pollution Control Board.
New Aesthetics: A new acrylic cross and modern signage at the hospital’s main entrance. The Unwavering Loyalty of Alumni:
Speaking with deep emotion, the hospital management recounted how former students-settled across various corners of the country and abroad-resolved to save their ‘alma mater’ upon learning of the hospital’s dilapidated state. It is solely the result of their persistent efforts and financial support that this hospital stands ready once again to serve patients today.
“This hospital has always been a boon for the poor and the needy. Its revitalization has generated immense enthusiasm among the local residents.”
