Testing for Uranium and Heavy Metals in Drinking Water Intensifies; Arsh Sachar Demands Scientific Sampling…

Faridkot, May 2 (Alexander D’Souza):
Giving concrete shape to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision of ‘Transparent Administration’ and a ‘Healthy Punjab,’ efforts to improve water quality in Faridkot have gained momentum. Arsh Sachar—a senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a social activist—stated that the administration is now set to conduct a scientific analysis of water samples across the district.
Swift Action on Complaint:
According to Arsh Sachar, complaints regarding poor water quality were lodged on both the Punjab Complaint Portal and the central CPGRAMS portal. Taking cognizance of these complaints, the district administration convened an urgent meeting.
Action Letter No.: 3892-97 (Dated 29-04-2026)
Administration’s Decision: The administration has agreed to implement regular testing and monitoring of water quality.
Testing to Cover These Harmful Elements:
Sachar has demanded that the investigation not be a mere formality; instead, a rigorous analysis of the following parameters must be conducted in a certified laboratory:
Radioactive Elements: Uranium.
Heavy Metals: Arsenic, Lead, Cadmium, and Mercury.
Other Parameters: Fluoride, Nitrate, and TDS (Total Dissolved Solids).
“Clean water is a fundamental right of every citizen. Our objective is not confrontation, but rather to safeguard public health by providing the government with accurate ground-level feedback. If water is found to be unfit for drinking in any area, the government will immediately ensure the provision of alternative and permanent arrangements,” stated Arsh Sachar, Senior Leader (AAP).
Emphasis on the ‘Public First’ Policy:
He clarified that this initiative should be implemented not only within Faridkot city but also—with equal vigor—in government hospitals, schools, waterworks facilities, and rural areas. In line with the AAP government’s ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy, there will be absolutely no compromise on matters concerning public health. News: 2-2
