A Confluence of Heritage and Constitution: Grand Celebrations of Khalsa Foundation Day and Ambedkar Jayanti at Baba Farid Public School,

—Punjab’s Pride on Display in Turban-Tying Competition; Students Pledge to Uphold the Principles of ‘Naam Japo, Kirat Karo, Vand Chhako’—
Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): The premises of the local Baba Farid Public School today bore witness to a unique confluence of history, devotion, and constitutional consciousness. A grand program was organized at the school to commemorate the 327th Foundation Day of the Khalsa Panth, the 135th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and the auspicious festival of Vaisakhi.
A Devotional Beginning and Historical Pride:
The program commenced with the morning prayer assembly. As the students sang the valor-filled hymn, “Deh Shiva Bar Mohi Ihai, Shubh Karman Te Kabhu Na Tarun” (Grant me this boon, O God: never may I falter in doing righteous deeds), the entire campus resonated with the spirit of the Khalsa. Through songs and folk ballads, the students paid tribute to the historic Vaisakhi of 1699 and the supreme sacrifice made by the Tenth Master, Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Turban-Tying Competition: ‘Mini-Punjab’ Takes the Field:
The main highlight of the event was the turban-tying competition held among students from grades 6 through 12. As the students lined up on the field, adorning traditional turbans and headwraps, it felt as though the entirety of Punjab had converged within the school courtyard. The School Management Committee specially honored and encouraged the students who excelled in this traditional art form.
The Power of the Pen and a Message of Moral Values:
Inspiring the students, the school’s Acting Principal, Sukhdeep Kaur, delivered a message emphasizing the synergy between the principles of Dr. Ambedkar and those of the Sikh Gurus. She stated that Dr. Ambedkar’s life teaches us that the pen is the mightiest weapon. She urged the students to “Educate, Agitate, and Organize”—to become educated, to strive for justice, and to eradicate social hierarchies and inequality from society. Furthermore, make the three pillars of the Khalsa Panth—*Naam Japo*, *Kirat Karo*, and *Vand Chhako*—the foundation of your life.
Culture: The Foundation of the Future
Appreciating the teachers and students for the successful organization of the event, Vice Principal Harsimranjit Kaur stated that the future of any nation whose younger generation learns to take pride in its culture and heritage remains forever secure and bright.
