Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): The Aruna Abhay Oswal Trust and Lions Club International-organizations that have always been at the forefront of social service initiatives-have taken a commendable step in the service of humanity. To enhance patient care facilities, these organizations have donated their mobile van to the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot.
Decision Taken to Ensure Optimal Utilization of the Van:
Providing details regarding this initiative, Dr. Sanjeev Goyal explained that a few years ago, the Aruna Abhay Oswal Trust and Lions Club International had jointly donated an Ashok Leyland mobile van to Madhu Nursing Home, Faridkot. He noted that the van has covered a distance of only 20,000 km to date. Given its limited usage recently, the Trust decided that this valuable asset should be utilized to its fullest potential for the service of the public. With this objective in mind, the van has now been handed over to the Medical College.
Gratitude Expressed by the Vice-Chancellor:
During a special ceremony held on Wednesday evening at the administrative office of the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Sood flagged off the ambulance, formally accepting it on behalf of the University. On this occasion, he expressed his gratitude to the organizations, stating that the University is currently in dire need of such philanthropists and well-wishers of the city. He emphasized that the progress of the University is inextricably linked to the progress of the city, its business community, and its common citizens.
Presence of Press and Club Members:
University officials, members of the Lions Club, and representatives of the press were present in large numbers to witness this historic moment. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Dr. Sanjeev Goyal extended his vote of thanks to all those in attendance. He expressed hope that this mobile van would prove to be a milestone in providing healthcare facilities to patients in remote areas.
