Faridkot, June 21 (Alexander D’Souza): International Yoga Day was celebrated with great zeal, enthusiasm, and fanfare at the local PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Faridkot Cantonment. On this special occasion, students as well as the entire teaching and non-teaching staff participated enthusiastically and pledged to make yoga an integral part of their lives.
Principal Dr. Sunil Kumar Highlights the Importance of Yoga
The event was formally inaugurated by the school’s Principal, Dr. Sunil Kumar. Addressing the gathering, he shed light on the significance of yoga in the context of modern lifestyles. Dr. Sunil Kumar stated, “In today’s fast-paced life, incorporating yoga into our daily routine is essential for leading a healthy and balanced life. Yoga not only maintains our physical health but also proves to be a panacea for enhancing mental peace and concentration.”
Group Yoga and Pranayama Practice
Following the Principal’s address, a group yoga session commenced under the guidance of the school’s Physical Education (P&HE) teacher, Mr. Rakesh. He taught students and staff various yoga *asanas*, stretching exercises, and *Pranayama* techniques (such as *Anulom-Vilom* and *Kapalbhati*) in a simple yet effective manner. During the session, the atmosphere on the sports ground was filled with yogic energy and vitality.
Conclusion Marked by Awareness and Firm Resolve
At the end of the session, all participants took a collective pledge to practice yoga regularly and spread awareness about its benefits within society. This initiative by the school management proved highly successful in fostering health consciousness among students and increasing their interest in yoga.
