Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): Preparations are in full swing to implement the upcoming ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) in Punjab smoothly and transparently. As part of this initiative, a three-day special training program for district officials and staff has been successfully concluded. This training was held from June 8 to June 10, 2026, at Hotel Radisson Red, Mohali (Amber Hall), under the able leadership of Punjab’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Ms. Anindita Mitra (IAS).
Teams constituted at district and assembly levels for a transparent process
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Faridkot, Mr. Rahul Chaba (IAS), stated that in accordance with the Chief Electoral Officer’s guidelines, special teams have been constituted at both the district and assembly constituency levels to ensure the Special Intensive Revision process is completely transparent and accessible.
‘Help Desk’ set up for the convenience of the general public and the elderly:
District Election Officer Mr. Rahul Chaba specifically noted that a ‘Help Desk’ has been established at the district level to facilitate general citizens, migrant voters, Persons with Disabilities (PwD), and elderly voters.
This help desk will primarily perform the following functions:
Assisting in filling out necessary forms related to the voter list.
Providing accurate information regarding the documents required during the revision process.
Locating voters’ entries in past records and linking them.
Grievance Redressal Cell:
A special ‘Grievance Redressal Cell’ has also been constituted to ensure the prompt resolution of any issues faced by citizens during this process.

Close watch on rumors: ‘Media Monitoring Team’ active
Shri Rahul Chaba further stated that a special ‘Media Monitoring Team’ has been constituted to keep a close watch on print, electronic, and social media during the Special Intensive Revision. This team will verify the facts regarding any false, misleading, or deceptive information (fake news) being circulated about the campaign and will promptly convey accurate data and the truth to the public.
Facilitation centers set up for BLOs; Deputy Commissioner appeals for cooperation
To address the practical difficulties faced by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) while working at the grassroots level during this crucial task, ‘BLO Facilitation Centers’ have been established across the district’s three assembly constituencies.
Finally, the Deputy Commissioner has earnestly appealed to all citizens and voters of the district to extend their full cooperation to the district administration in completing this vital and historic revision of the voter list smoothly, impartially, and with complete transparency.
