Faridkot Police Takes a Major Step Towards Community Policing: Holds Key Meeting with Traders and Businessmen

With the objective of further strengthening community policing and enhancing coordination with the general public, the Faridkot Police today held a special meeting here with local commission agents (*Arhtiyas*), businessmen, shopkeepers, and prominent citizens. Held under the guidance of District Police Chief (SSP) Dr. Pragya Jain, the meeting was notably attended by Faridkot MLA S. Gurditt Singh Sekhon and other distinguished members of the business community.
Key Highlights:
**Pledge for a Drug-Free Society:** Public cooperation is paramount in the campaign against drugs and crime: SSP Dr. Pragya Jain.
**Assurance of Confidentiality:** The identities of individuals providing information regarding anti-social and criminal elements will be kept strictly confidential: SP Jogeshwar Singh Goraya.
Support from Traders: The Trade Chamber and the Goldsmiths’ Association (*Swarnkar Sangh*) pledged their fullest possible cooperation to the police administration.
A Strong Crackdown on Criminals, Direct Dialogue with the Public
Addressing the gathering, SP (Investigation) Mr. Jogeshwar Singh Goraya stated that, under the leadership of SSP Dr. Pragya Jain, this campaign has been launched to establish direct contact with the public alongside taking strict action against criminal elements within the district. He appealed to shopkeepers and the general public to immediately share any information they may have regarding anti-social elements and drug traffickers with the police.

Furthermore, he appealed to the attendees to encourage youths affected by drug addiction to seek admission at de-addiction centers and OAT (Opioid Assisted Treatment) centers.
Trade Association Applauds Police Initiative
Speaking on the occasion, Rajan Thakur—President of the Faridkot Trade Association (*Vyapar Mandal*) and the Goldsmiths’ Association—lauded this initiative by the police. He remarked that such meetings serve to further strengthen mutual trust between the police and the trading community. He, along with all the traders present at the meeting, assured the police administration of their full cooperation in every possible way to help create a drug-free society.

These meetings with traders, social activists, and Panchayat representatives will continue to be held across various parts of the district to ensure that the campaign against drugs and crime becomes even more effective through active public participation.
