₹14.06 Crore Project Green-Lit to Modernize Faridkot’s Water Supply Infrastructure,

Faridkot, April 23 (Alexander D’Souza): The Punjab government has taken a significant step towards modernizing and strengthening the water supply system of Faridkot city. Local MLA S. Gurdit Singh Sekhon announced that the first phase of a ₹14.06 crore project-aimed at providing uninterrupted access to clean water for city residents-has received approval, and the concerned department has already issued tenders for the work.
Project Highlights:
New Clear Water Tank: A large tank with a capacity of 246 lakh liters will be constructed at the Sanjay Nagar Water Works to enhance water storage capacity.
Pipeline Network: New pipelines spanning 22.20 km will be laid to ensure coverage reaches every corner of the city.
Repair of Old Lines: Large-diameter pipes will be installed to replace aging lines along Old Cantt Road, G.T.B. Nagar, Ferozepur Road, and the Main Bazaar area.
New Connections: Under this scheme, new water connections will be provided to approximately 2,000 households across the city.
Infrastructure Upgrades: In addition to the construction and repair of boundary walls at Bajigar Basti and the Sanjay Nagar Water Works, the inlet channel pipe passing through the BSF campus will also be replaced.
“Our primary objective is to deliver clean drinking water to every household in the city. Work on the first phase will commence shortly, and the blueprint for the second phase is also ready,” stated Gurdit Singh Sekhon, MLA Faridkot.
Preparations for Phase II-Another Investment of ₹8 Crores:
MLA Sekhon further stated that, under the second phase, there are plans to construct another new water works facility near Teacher Colony at an estimated cost of ₹8 crores. Suitable land for this project is currently being identified. He stated that the Punjab government is committed to providing basic amenities to the people, and these development works will continue uninterrupted.
