Faridkot/Jammu (Alexander D’Souza): Under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Sood, Vice-Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, the Department of Dermatology at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital (GGSMCH), Faridkot, has once again hoisted the flag of its academic excellence on the national stage.
At DRCON 2026 (the 2nd Annual National Conference of the Indian Association for Dermato-Rheumatology), held in Jammu, the institute’s young doctors delivered a stellar performance, bringing glory to both the department and the college across the entire nation.

Under the expert mentorship of Dr. Sumir Kumar, Head of the Department of Dermatology, the residents showcased their talent in the ‘Award Paper Presentation’ category, securing the top positions:
First Prize: Dr. A.B. George (Senior Resident) secured the first place for his exceptional research paper.
Second Prize (Joint): Dr. Jenny Goyal (Senior Resident) and Dr. Shivali Mansuri (Junior Resident) jointly clinched the second prize, bringing honor to the institute.

This year, the central theme of the conference was “Skin—A Window to Systemic Rheumatic Diseases.” On this prestigious platform—amidst medical stalwarts gathered from across the country—the presentations and research work of these young doctors from Faridkot received effusive praise from the experts.
