Demand to Reopen Closed Railway Crossing in Golewala: Villagers Submit Memorandum to BJP District President…

Golewala/ Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): The issue regarding the closure of the old railway crossing in Golewala-a village situated on the Ferozepur-Bathinda railway line-is now intensifying. This decision by the Railway Department has sparked massive outrage across dozens of villages in the region. Recognizing the gravity of this public interest issue, a large number of villagers met today with the BJP District President, Mr. Gaurav Kakkar. They submitted a memorandum to him, pleading for the immediate reopening of the crossing.
Commute Halted; Dozens of Villages Affected:
The villagers stated that this railway crossing has served as the lifeline of this region for decades. Its sudden closure has completely severed connectivity for the following villages: Golewala, Kabulwala, Hasanbhatti, Hardiyalewala, Pahluwala, Beguwala, Rajowala, and Dallewala.
Major Issues That Have Become Hardships:
“With the closure of the crossing, our lives have virtually come to a standstill. Our children’s education and the very lives of patients are now at risk,” remarked a local resident.
Plight of Schoolchildren: Due to the closed crossing, children are forced to take a long detour to reach school, often resulting in them being late for their classes.
Risks in Emergencies: For patients heading to the hospital, every minute counts. The closure of the crossing forces ambulances to travel a much longer route, a delay that could potentially lead to a major tragedy.
Economic Loss: The businesses of local shopkeepers, as well as the time and livelihood of daily wage laborers commuting to work, are being severely disrupted.
District President Offers Firm Assurance:
After patiently listening to the villagers’ grievances, BJP District President Mr. Gaurav Kakkar stated, “The public’s distress is my top priority. I will immediately take up this matter with senior railway officials and the concerned ministry. We will make every possible effort to ensure this gate is reopened and to provide relief to the people.”
Prominent local dignitaries and a large number of villagers were present on this occasion; they made it clear that if a solution is not found soon, their agitation will be further intensified. News: 1-1
